just want to say thanks to those who posted how to-for the cleaning of glass of stove. i didn't think mine was all that dirty, but it gave it a try and used some newspaper-very lightly wet-ted. then dipped it into the ash can since i had to empty ashes anyway-again, lightly dipped. then i wiped down the glass. took less than a minute, but man oh man, what a big diff!

Nice, isn't it?

Part of the pleasure of sitting in front of the stove is watching the fire. When my glass is clean, it's like it wasn't there, like I'm looking in open flames. The price I pay for that is a couple of minutes of effort--well worth it to me.

I was shocked and surprised at the same discovery. Paper towel + wood ash = happy stove glass!

Sometimes just the damp newspaper is enough . . . especially if the wood is seasoned and you're running at the proper temps . . . then most of what you're cleaning is fly ash.
