Temperature around Northern Virginia has improved to the mid 50s in the daytime and low 30s at night. Spring is coming! Time to start seeds for transplanting. Had a wonderful burn tonight. Low damper, lots of wood (well-cured cherry, poplar, and oak). We have a 1950s split level. The main and upper floor maintained 73 degrees. Beautiful fire with a low damper. Fire measured around 500 degrees measured at the glass.

Supplemented with tender barbecued pork ribs done on a Weber charcoal grill.

Doesn't get much better than this.

Sounds good. The 30-NC is loaded and rolling. I skimped on the load last night and woke up cold. The heck with that. Supposed to get down in the twenties tonight after being fifty today. Woodburner's Hell weather begins.

We're pretty much burning mornings only now, for a few hours. Let it burn out around noonish. House stays warm enough that by the time in late evening we're feeling a little chilly it's almost time for bed, so I just wimp out & set the electric furnace to bump the temp up a few degrees. I like burning wood, but as BrotherBart sez...it's not a religion. Nice to have an affordable backup source of heat. Rick
