We got lucky and had an offer to go and collect a couple of Douglas Firs from a private party. There were some 4 foot across rounds, but all were bucked up to 16-18 inchws and the owner provided the use of a 37 ton splitter. Sweet deal, probably the easiest 4 cords I ever scrounged up.

Hell of a deal. Get that split & stacked, then give it a year or better, and you've got yourself some firewood. If you find it's just all too much for you to handle, you're welcome to drop some off down here. %-P Rick

Wow. 4 foot diameter seems rather large. Is that common out there?

Maybe you've never seen how Pines, Firs, Larches, and other trees grow out here in the Wild West...? Rick

Yes, out there are some really big trees. That was a great find indeed.

Great scrounge plus the use of a splitter, did you get any pictures? :zip:
