A nice view of our past... these photo's are a great view of how America once was!
 
It's interesting that it's so culturally odd today that nobody (besides the tank crew) is smiling. Photography had to develop to the point where a 'snapshot' could be taken, and the social norms of not smiling for photographs took some time to fade, if I understand correctly.

They sure are. There's a lot of history in those faces. The carbon guy's still haunts me. The homesteader family photos are also quite poignant.
