I haven't been on the forum much lately and wonder if you guys bought this at Lowes, the price is higher than the standard Greene Team in white bag but according to the manufacturer both are the SAME pellet but different bag.

I inquiried the manufacturer on why Lowes employees are fooling customer saying that the Platinum is a higher grade pellet hence the price tag is higher.

Anyone burned this yet and any difference compared with the white bag brand?

I am heading to Lowes to get 1 bag just so I can see inside and give it a burn, but expecting to see same pellet inside.

    Thanks.

Not sure about this season, but last year I was told by Robbie in an email that Greene Team, Greene Gold and Greene Platinum were all the exact same product that are packaged differently for sales to different distributors. I assume it's so the big box stores are not competing against the local dealers with the same packaged product (even though it is the same product)

X2. I had a phone call with Robbie about this. No difference between GT's, Greene Team Platinum and Greene Gold. GT and/or Lowes took the opportunity of the introduction of the Platinums to raise the price by $60 or $70.

They are a decent pellet. Plenty of heat but a little ashy. Hardly any fines at all. Just not worth the money Lowes is charging. A year ago I was buying them for $209. In December, Platinums came out and the price jumped to $274, where they remain today up here in Maine. Yet some stores in the CT. NY area still sell them for $209. As much as I like them, I won't buy them again even if the price comes down.

They quoted me $275 for the GT so I wasn't going to get many from them (since last year I paid $209 with 10% and another 5%) But when my husband get 1 ton last Sunday, Lowes charged $260 - with 10% for a total of $234 - which isn't as bad. So we are going to get a few more. Not many options around here and I never stopped watching sales since last winter. We like the GT's though...

The Greene Teams burn well for me, probably my favorite mid-range pellet.

Greene Teams burn hotter for us than the green label liggies.......Not the cleanest burn, but definitely acceptable....And the GT bags stay together whereas we have had approximately 12 bags of liggies pop open at the seam on the end{out of a 2 ton delivery}....We taped them until we get to them......

I picked up 10 bags of Somersets in my car last night, I called the store today and they told me they were out...might be getting more next week.

They're burning great for me (first time I've used them) and I'd love to get more, but don't think there are any other places in my area selling them.
