Hi Everybody

I brought flat screen T.V. and i want to hangout my T.V. above the fire wall and i want to know that can firewall effect it, i mean to say it will do any harm to my T.V.

Fireman,

Welcome to the forum.

More details would be needed. It is above a FIREPLACE or an insert? A wood stove? Dimensions (how far from the source of heat)? I think a picture would give people a better idea before answering questions.

I know that my 46 inch LCD is about 5 feet away from my stove (to the side) and there's barely any heat that reaches it due to the side heat shields.

There have been a few threads about this over the last couple of years:

I would not hang one over any heat source myself, as they are prone to failure by their own heat production, let alone additional heat from the fireplace. There are several that disagree with me, and are doing it, and don't believe they have shortened the life of their tv's.
