Good morning all. This is my 1st season with my Harman P43. I haven't been burning it a lot so far because of the warm temps here in PA. I may have ran it about a week or so. I've been running it on room temp setting, 3 to 3.5 feed rate and blower on high. At 1:00 am morning I fired the stove up and turned the feed rate to 4 and set room temp for around 70 degrees. After waking this morning, my wife was complaining about the smell the stove was putting off!!! It was so bad it gave her a headache. ( Which gave me one! ) Can anyone tell me if this normal for a new stove and how long will it last. Thanks..........

It's normal. You are curing the paint on the stove body.
Open a window to let the smell (& smoke) out.
it takes 4 - 8 hrs of burn time to cure it completely.

Yes first hot burn will smell. Leave that feed rate on 4 and don't mess with it unless you have unburned pellets dropping off.

Bob and Tony,

Thanks for your replies. I believed it was the new stove just burning off also but just wanted to make sure!!!!!

You might want to run it real hot for an hour to speed up the process. Open some Windows or doors if needed during this time.
