They know better (or at least they should now), they are trying to meet you half way...but it should have been 4" all along. I would insist on 4" thoughout. Oh, and don't let them make you feel bad for insisting on a correct installation. They are the professionals, so they should do it right and compensate you for giving them training on EVL... ;-)
