Question:

When measuring hearth clearance in front of a wood-burning stove, how does one take into account the vertical drop of the hearth, which in my case is non-combustible.



Answer:

That does not count. Figure the non-combustible floor covering must extend horizontally out from the front opening door of the stove or insert.
