We are installing our stove in the corner of our living room. We have met all the min. clearences to combustible material guidelines. Our plan is the install veneer stone on the walls behind the stove. Question is, when I Install the cement board, any need for the 1in. air gap or can it be screwed the the drywall directly?

Would make things a lot easier.....

Thanks for any advise!

If you've met all the required clearances to combustibles, you can install any non-combustible material you want pretty much any way you want between the stove and the combustibles. An air gap is very useful if you're trying to construct a heat shield to reduce your clearances. If you're not trying to reduce your clearances, then you needn't worry about an air gap. Rick
