Hearth R value - Defiant vs. Encore

Anyone have an idea why the Encore flexburn would require a higher R-value for the hearth than the Defiant when doors are closed? The Defiant and Encore both have the same when doors are open (1.18)

Remember, this has to do with test results that are independent of the company who built the stove. At the end of the day, the company who built the stove really doesn't have say in the requirements that are assigned to the stove after testing.

Without having access to the data that was collected, it's tough to analyze why the requirements are what is specified, but they are simply the way it is.
