Hey guys, whats the rules for the hearth under the stove,,, Can I sit it on carpet or does the crpet need to come up before I put the hearth down to sit the stove on ???????. there is concrete under the carpet if it matters. This will be a corner install. Thnaks in advance... Cant wait to get the intrepid on line

Does the the stove have bottom and/or rear heat shields? You'll need to meet or exceed the manufacturer's guidelines for the stove. It definitely can not sit on the carpet or have any carpet any closer than 18" in front of the door of the stove. At the least, plan on pulling up the carpet in the prescribed hearth area per the manual. Then you can put down stone, tile or just sheet metal for the stove to sit on. Download the manual from VC's website for exact instructions.

Though the stove is small, it is a powerful little heater. You'll also need to pay close attention to clearances from the side walls when installing in a corner. 20" required if the stove does not have a rear heat shield, 12" if it does.
