So between lowers and HD I have for choices stove chow, hearthstone, american something, and fireside ultras. Stow chow seems to burn hot.

Recommendations?

If the "american something" is american wood fibers, better known as AWF, those burned well in my stove. Stove chow is well regarded, although it wasn't good for me. Never burned the Firesides, but many people like those. Never heard of the hearthstones. Buy 5 bags of each, take some temp readings, and see how long the bags last.

Not AWF, I think the brand I saw is a local brand, since it was out of Foxboro, MA.

I noticed some say they're made from wood fiber and some from wood. Any difference? I only buy 2-3 bags at a time since I burn pellets in my wood stoves in pellet cages.
