I bought a Vermont Castings Century wood stove back in November. The stove has been great but over the last few days it doesn't seem to burn as hot. I have to leave the damper fully open to keep the house warm. In the past I've kept the damper closed. Any ideas?

Are you tapping into a new pile or different species of wood that might be green? If not I'd take a look at your stack/chimney (especially if your cap has a screen)

souonds like its probably just a defferent wood makeup

most definatly! my god, it makes a really big difference. Everyone has their favorite woods. Mine is Red oak, hard maple and locust. If you have a fire with hard maple vs a fiire with soft maple you will see a big difference
