My husband thinks we require a heat shield or wall protection as the new install is only eight inches fromm our back wall in a corner installation .Clearances are probably fine because sheet metal is covering an old gas fire place cavity[dead air space], but he thinks a factory heat shield or a heavier mass would deflect ore hear outward. Any thoughts or pers. experience with either?
