Sept 2nd 2010 in Michigan's SE UP we got hit with over 6" of rain in 24 hrs at the farm. Us hillbilly's were fine on the hill but the lowlanders had some water to deal with!!! With all the gravel and drainage I had I did not realise how much water we got until I went down to my cousin's on the creek. The creek is usually six to eight feet wide but it was a little more than that then.

A half mile downhill due east of us at Cousin Dave's.

A mile north from Dave's at my Uncle Dennis's.

Our bridge between Dave's and Uncle Dennis's was flooded out bad it was under at least four feet of water and a strong cross current. We had to drive the roads around going over three miles in what was usually a mile.

Great pictures Billy, about 4-5 years ago we had so much rain in two days it blew out 5 bridges in our town. I have to get some of the old pictures and post.

Thanks Zap

I would love to see those pictures! The force of water is awesome.

We didn't get nearly what you got! The second picture of hydroplaning made me wonder whether you ever came out! We had a very windy, dreary period through the Labor Day weekend. The population of folks visiting their cabins in our neighborhood was way down this year I would guess due to the weather. We probably ended up with about 2 inches of rain for the 4 day weekend, but it was heavy clouds and cool winds, not what the downlanders want to experience for the last weekend of summer! Nice shots of your place though.

I was wondering how wide spread the storms were I don't have a converter box for the tv up there so I wasn't able to watch the news. You're right there weren't a lot of happy campers that weekend. It rained every day with some breaks from wensday nite before labor day to wensday after labor day when I left for home. I was going to take my uncles 17 yr old son out and teach him how to cut firewood but it was too muddy to bother with. But we did take him up to sand ridge and cut two 18" oaks my friend needed for lumber. And ended up showing him how to get two trees hung up and what you have to do to get them down. The best part was when his older sister and boyfriend got their fourwheeler stuck and had to walk a 1/2 mile back and she slipped and fell and was mud from the eyebrows down.
