Any progress? Did you start with a warranty claim with the dealer?

I think that the baffle is made from 304 St-St, but the air channel at the back is probably not, just steel, It could be easy to remove it and have one in St-St. Did you try to clean the baffle with a brush , looks just ash covered with humidity ?
I believe that's correct.

This stuff happens, though this is the first time I have seen this in a PE stove. I have seen this happen with some Quads and Lopis and those companies have a patch kit available. Not sure if PE does.
