after a month or two...getting a part here and a part here...i got the ol stihl 025 rebuilt and running....i doubted myself many times along the way..never done anything like this....but now the carb is way out of wack..i turned it in all the way then backed both screws out 1 full turn she cranked up...and ran..but just wasnt right...tried to set the idle and she would die on me....so im gonna take the safe route and let my local dealer adjust the carb for me for 5 bucks...the carb thing scares the hell out of me....especially with all these new parts i dont wanna run it lean and burn things up....oh and i gotta get a sprocket cover for it now..old one is cracked

    Way to go.
Now you are a chain saw expert.
Next you'll be modifying the exhaust & looking for broken saw to rebuild. :)

Maybe the dealer will give you some tips on how to tune it. ;)

Nice job. Nothing like the sense of accomplishment you feel when you fix something on your own.

Congrats. Did you change the engine seals too?

The 025 is a solid runner. My Neighbor has 2 of them (025 and MS250).

I just rebuilt my MS 260..... Took awhile. But well worth it :)

Nice job! Don't panic on the tuning, it's not that hard. If she stutters going up give her a little more on the low side, if it winds out at wot, give a little on the high side, till it 4 strokes or burbles just a little, should smooth out in the cut. Now adjust the idle, & run it like ya stole it. A C
