Same here. I have to have my local fire chief come and inspect it, for my home owners insurance to ok it.

I called him out, to verify that how I was going to install it, and what materials I was using would be ok with him, before cutting holes in my house.

His exact words were "Stickin it to the Ay-rabs? Everything looks good to me."
