I am thinking about putting in some type of filter or dirt trap in my return line after storage tank to catch any junk I might get in the tank.

I have a wye strainer now, is anything better needed?

Any suggestions?

I have 1-1/2" copper plumbing.

GG, If your wye strainer is big enough it should trap some gunk too. I use a big 1 1/2" cast iron strainer that I got cheap off Ebay & seems to do a good job, Randy
