How do you clean your pellet brun pot?

I cleaned my burn pot for the first time. I have a treager pellet boiler. I just took a scoop of hot coals out then dumped the rest through the bottom. Put the hot coals back in and presto. Is it really that easy or do I need to make sure the holes are clear etc.?

I have a brush similar to a gun barrell cleaning brush and I clean all the holes 1-2 times per month.

I just use a 1" paint brush after giving a tug on the clearing lever.
