I have some acreage and have been getting my firewood out so far by wheelbarrow and planks when it's not too far, and by renting a tractor for the longer hauls. I can't say that the tractor was that efficient since I've had to use the small loader. I didn't have a trailer and the smallish machine wouldn't skid worth a darn. I tried a skid steer but the clearance wasn't nearly enough and I spent more time trying to get access and unstuck. I've been told that a utility-grade atv and trailer is real versatile. Bobcat's "toolcat" really looks like a great machine since I can also hook up a blower to clean the driveway and it take many attachments but it's design looks like it might be troublesome on uneven ground. Also it doesn't have the greatest clearance. So, what do you use and how do you like it?
