I switched to the Stihl synthetic, silver bottles, years ago. I recall the doubled the warranty if you used it. I don't know what the price difference is. But more than likely was a money making brilliant ideafor Stihl. It doesn't smoke and the saw runs great.

One thing to watch out for is 2 cycle oil for water cooled engines. I don't know the differences, but they do make 2 types.
