OK, I bought the stove to stay warm and save money.....in that order. Then I joined this forum to pick up some tips, I've always burned wood in the past as well as coal. Pellet stoves are similar but do have their own idiosyncrasies and the people here are great!!

My problem is, I found myself driving around this morning (Thanksgiving Day) looking to see which box store will be carrying a pellet that I haven't tried yet. Is this a permanent condition or will it pass with time??

BTW thank you all that have given help directly or through past posts

i've learned so much! For instance, when burning Triple D cherry pits the 1/2" stones provided don't actually burn, although they will get cherry red!

Not to highjack thread... I will be be working on a hearth this weekend. Have a stove locked in. Not installed and have a solid plan for ICC pipe installation . Been doing a layout plan for hearth in Cadd at work when boss isnt looking. I talked the wife into stopping in a big box store to "check out pellets" while doing errands. May work on a stash even before stove is installed. Reading pellet reviews online. Have no real winter hobby before this. I got it bad dont I ? Is there a support group for this addiction? This is a slippery slope isnt it ?

All joking aside. Try different pellets, a few bags of each. In the process you will learn your stove. This is one of those things where the journey is more than the destination. I think that what I've found out is that everyone and every stove is different. As time goes on you will tinker and tweak it and you will find out what works best for you. The phrase "your results may vary" really applies, so I advise not to buy a lot of any one kind of pellets till you find out what works. The people here are great, there is a ton of info already posted but if you can't find it they'll all be glad to help. In a non condescending way.

Hopefully your wife is still speaking to you in April. I bet if you save money and stay warm this winter she will be.

...then when you get your stove all figured out,..... you go buy another (different) one and the process starts over...... so no,....no cure.
