After I dragged myself off the couch again tonight to put a log in the fire, I measured about 500F on the outside of the somewhat clouded glass (a distinct drop-off from what it had been earlier) and about 1000F with the door opened. I assume that was the brick temperature.

Interesting and entertaining.
