Question:

Can we install a wood burning insert into a double sided fireplace? You can see through our fireplace into another room.



Answer:

Yes, you can then either leave the other side open or install a screen/glass doors to hide the rear of the insert. Since the insert is connected directly to the flue area, there is no problem with smoke or downdraft into the other side.

Of course, you cannot use either side as a open fireplace any more.
