So I have been reading many of the threads here about over fires and too much draft on large chimneys. I just took my measurements and found out my current chimney is 30' 8" tall (2 Story Colonial). Because of this height should I be looking for a 5.5" insulated liner instead of a 6" insulated liner to reduce the air flow?

Thoughts?

Thanks!

I would say no. I have two 5.5" liners, 21' and 34', and velocity in the things is like vacuum cleaners. If six inch will fit your chimney, use six inch and if overdraft occurs deal with it by other means.
