Hey Everyone

I noticed rust in the right-side hot air vent on my VC Montpelier. Stove is over 10 years old, SS liner in external chimney, professional install.
Just wondering how water may be making it past the steel jacket. It looks like a fair amount of water was present. I haven't pulled the surround to take a look yet.
Perhaps there may be an issue with the flue top plate? Just guessing.....

Thanks
Gabe

There are several possibilities like the chimney mortar is breaking down, The crown is cracked or improperly built, or it could be condensation.

Thanks for the reply. I'll get someone up there to take a look at it.
