can you coat the inside of the piping with a silcone or other coating to help reduce the attachment of "the bad stuff" to the flue? making the surface hydrophobic?
 
That's not necessary. Anything you put in the pipe would just burn off anyway. If your wood is fairly dry, you shouldn't have a problem. I brushed my liner once at the end of the season and had maybe three cups of powder, no flakes, and my wood wasn't super-dry. I should have even less powder this year. If you wood isn't at the optimum moisture content, just keep an eye on the flue and brush as needed.
