    At about 20 seconds into the video, he picks up his Fiskars and preps it with a brief pass on each side of the blade.

    Does this make the wood split more easily?

    I didn't see that in my Fiskars owner's manual. Come to think of it, I didn't get an owner's manual!

    Nothing revolutionary about that at all. Splitting soft maple is as easy as it shows. One does not need the Fiskars to do it either as any old axe will do the task just as easy.
