My Quadrafire 1200i combustion fan shuts down due to a poor wire connection. There are two wires(Blue and Green) with spade terminals that connect to the motor. I removed the combustion blower motor yesterday and noticed that there is a very fine wire without solder on it that connects to the spade terminal. This wire comes from the motor winding I think. I tried soldering the thin wire last year but it didn't hold. May need to buy a new motor. Maybe someone with the right tools could solder it. The wire is thinner than a paper clip. Yesterday I cut the tip of a wooden clothespin and put a dab of dielectric grease on the thin wire. The wooden clothespin tip presses the thin wire onto the spade connector thus allowing the fan to work. This is a temporary fix. Anyone have this problem? Thanks

The thin wire is probably enameled for insulation. If you can get at it, remove the enamel by very carefully scraping the wire on all sides with a blade, or there is enamel solvent available (just don't get it anywhere else on the wiring). Then you can solder it once you have the copper free of the enamel. Regular soldering tools will work fine, although a small iron may have trouble heating the spade connector up. Having the spade disconnected from its other half would be required, also.
