This guy escaped the splitter, and made it inside. Oak deadfall, no bark! It literally scraped the top and bottom of the opening on the way in.

I burn them that big from time to time. I make sure its a real hot stove with a big bed of coals, then no problem.

Nice. So, what kind of burn time you think this will give you?

Do you have 3 Big ones in there?

I'm not gonna worry about big splits anymore lol.

That's awesome! What a lunker.

Only the one big one with a few short splits on the sides. I might have been able to get two of these in there, but even that would have been a dangerous challenge, as it started burning as soon as it hit coals.

I put 2 or 3 -- 5-8" (fir) logs in my stove all the time for good overnight burns. You just have to have a good bed of coals, or they end up smoldering.

Nice pics!

I burn them big most of the time. My avatar has a couple big boys burning away. Usually I fit 3 splits across the bottom row.

Like in other areas of life, bigger is better. I get far better burns out of larger split pieces. Good bed of coals, biggest chunks first, infill around it.
