4 when I went to work at 4:30am

It was a >1bag day, here. perhaps the first(?).

filled stove last night ~7:30...ran out at 4:30 today. Okies, no less. Still, it doesn't seem "that" cold. (19 when I got up this morning; don't think it got above 25 all day). I guess since its been windy, too, that puts a greater load on the house.

Yep..I put socks on before putting my Flip Flops on to go to the garage and fetch the pellets.another 20 lower and it will be time for Boots.
I still ride around the block on my Mt bike at 10*.. yes.. with long pants and a nice jacket..hat and gloves.
My block is about 5 miles around.

Lumber Jacks and corn..
real heat for real Men..( losers who live too far North..)

Now that I think of it, I haven't cleaned the glass or burnpot since Monday, thats a record for me.....I might actually like this colder weather after all, clean running stove ;-)

Not to bad lordgrinz....I haven't cleaned the glass, burnpot, ashpan, or anything else since Oct 5th......up to 57 bags.

But it's still FREAKING COLD OUTSIDE!!! (and a nice 70 inside ;-) )

I think Al is in Paris!!!!!!! Global Warming at it's best!

Freeze brings Paris to standstill...

HEAVIEST SNOW SINCE 1987...

England has coldest opening week of December since 1659...

8 degree's here this morning, nasty!!, this is mid jan weather, hopefully it wont last like in 1989 it was bitter cold december and warmer rest of winter, had to sell my snomobile for a quad i remember.

8 degrees here, too. Put bags #49 & 50 in last night, time for a good cleaning this weekend, s'posed to get into the 40's.

Had 6 at the house at 3:30am and dropped down to 4 driving into work but once I got near the shore it was at 8. Basement was at 75 this morning burning Big E on #3 and loving the heat the hamer hots throw. Upstairs was 68/69 and the furnace wasn't running, thermostat set on 65.....

3 Degrees outside this morning, the inside a toasty 72-76 in living area, 66-68 in the bedrooms and upstairs. The XXV isn't even breaking a sweat with the NEWP's in there, but I sure am burning thru some bags now...LOL

LG, how has the ash been from the NEWP's?

Its actually running really well now that its not running in maintenance heat, I got a steady green/blue flame with yellow/white tops. The ash has been much better at these higher running temps, I have it set to 5 on the feed rate, running on "Room Temp" mode, and the temp setting at 78. Its running perfectly, and the glass is way less dirty, I was cleaning almost every day before, but since the arctic temps came, I haven't opened it since Monday.

6 here this morning. House was down to 64 overnight with insert on high. I caved and turned the oil on to supplement. Figure once it warms up some in the house the stove will keep up better.

my shop is making noises I have never heard before. Cans are venting in the spray room today with it shut down for the winter.

Switched the thermostat from program mode to ON and let the pellet stove run in room temp all day long. In this weather it takes too long to recover the house when it drops to 60 at night and during the day. I still only have the feed at 2 but the house is just right 69 in the bedrooms in the AM and 73 average on the first floor. I might raise the temps to 70 upstairs and 75 on the first floor if the wife asks me to but this is winter as far as I'm concerned...

Sunday and Monday nights we're looking to see single digits with wind chills of 5 to 10 below and I am NOT looking foreward to that! I'm thinking we aren't going to be very warm.

Last night was our first single digit night since last season. I expected the house to be chilly this morning, But was pretty surprised at a stat reading of 71 at 5:00 AM. Stove still cruisin on medium and dandy pellets in the hopper. :) Turmans should get me thru -10ºF below. Still got the Hamers/Cubies if it does get any colder!

I wonder if some white stuff would help insulate the foundation? Nah, Better not go there just yet!

I may have to buy another ton of pellets to add to my Pellet Pig status at this rate of burn ;-)

My pellet pile is down to six bags... time for a refill.

Yes it will Jay, however I draw the line when the house has over 4 feet on the roof. Out comes the roof rake.

Yup it's cold outside. A couple a days ago we turned on the thermostat to add some oil heat to one zone the controls an addition which is the furthest away from the pellet stove. We never intended this Castile to heat our entire home, but it's been a surprise that this season to make it into the second week of December before using any oil heat. Other than that the little Castile is doing a yeoman's job especially considering that we are running it on the medium mode. Occasionally we switch to the high mode for about 1/2 an hour to bring up the temp quickly.

I've also been reading about other users having trouble getting heat to their upstairs something that just happens naturally with our small cape style home: you can feel the cooler air migrating down the stairs just above the floor.

Kooser! Stock now! Have you not seen the forecast! Gwads man, going to get ugly starting tonight! 12-18" by Sunday, below zero highs with 20-30 below chills, 15-30 MPH wind. Guess it's time for the Blazers 24/7 this weekend. Too cold for ice fishing even darn it.

Mid-teens last night. Going into the 40's over the weekend so I will be switching back from the Barefoots to the Green Team. Next week in the BIG CHILL. Also noticed how much cleaner the Castilles burn on high then on medium....next to no ash in the burn pot with the Barefoots....amazing. :)
My distributor has some Maine Woods and will try a 1/2 dozen bags. Want to see how they stand up next to the Barefoots....

If the MWP bag doesn't have a log cabin on it, they could be old stock from last year which reportedly were not as good as the latest production runs. Let us know how they work out for you.

I bought one ton of Maine Woods in Sep with the old style bag from SIB in Jay. He gets truck loads in every week from the nearby factory. then Dec 1st, I got two more tons, these have the log cabin on them. Both burned equally well. nothing on the bags that I can find that tells you when they are bagged up. However, I would be careful about buying anything that has been sitting around. You don't want anything that has been kept outside unless you try a bag or two first. Even a good pellet can be bad if exposed to moisture.
