Are the stacks uncovered

I did not cover them. They run down the fence separating the front yard from our forest (about 13 acres) and I figured I would give it a shot. We don't typically get too wet here and they seem to stay dry in normal rains because of the foliage over them.

Will find out if I made a mistake soon enough. My intent is to keep about 1 1/2 cords stacked on the same kind of racks I just built in the middle bay of the garage and the garage stays very dry in the winter. I moved wood that was slightly wet from the rain we have had in there two days ago and it is already dry - 20% at the ends.

Whatever you cover with, if you just make it only as wide as your stack. Then lay it on top, and put one more layer of wood on, that will keep most of the sun off the material. Easy peasy.
