I have a wood stove insert (harman exception) requiring a k value of . 84 for the hearth and would like to use granite ,or flagstone for the hearth keeping it as low to the floor as possible any ideas . The local quarry can cut it 1 inch thick which would be perfect but will this meet the k value of .84? thanks

Welcome. Sorry but it's not even close. The insulation value of stone is very low. This may require a layer of mineral insulation or a couple layers of 1/2" Durock NexGen underneath the stove to achieve the required insulation.
