A nice scrounge as a result, I might make another run at cutting more tomorrow if its still around. But I found it after work last Friday on the way home, on city property near a Firestation. Nobody was around on Friday night (must have been on a call), so I finally found the Firefighters around yesterday after work. The Captian set me up with the public works Manager cell phone number. I got my phone call back about 2 hours later. I got green flag to get what ever I want till its removed. Nice pickings, the city had cut everything down and piled up. I just picked through and got what I wanted tonight. Here's the pics.

Came from a Chevy Family, been 4 Chevy trucks through my blood line. But when when the Government took there stake in the company, my opinion of them changed. So I let my money do the talking by buying a Ford, on my next truck. I still own my 4th Chevy a 2500HD though.

Its just better that way. Plus, it has the potential to open up more scrounges, now that my name is out there. Not that I really need anymore wood, but I will rarely turn it down.

You've got an HD and you're not hauling it in that?? Back around Christmas last year I had DH call on a willow in our area-turned out it was a neighbor about 8 houses away (we had just moved in a few months prior and hadn't met most anyone yet). He helped haul most of it in his HD (it was a BIG tree). That thing barely blinked. Had him back over about a month ago with it to pull our shed a few hundred feet to a better spot and I don't think he got much off of idle. That thing is a BEAST.

BTW, we're a Ford family...but our Fords are a bit more light duty...and over 30 years old so we gotta treat em a little more careful-no pulling sheds around in a 2WD either.

Nice scrounge, btw. It ALWAYS pays to keep a look out and ask. you never know if what you see is just the tip of the iceberg!
