We had several close lighting stikes (I'll try to get some pics of the trees tomorrow) and this white oak fell. :(

Too bad, that looks like it was a nice tree. As a BTU posessor I guess you'll have a couple of years to let it season.

Ya seasonings no problem it's just sad to see these big ones go. Here's some night shots of one lighting struck tree.

I sure do hate to see good trees go down...seems like every time I get a tree to a good size mother nature beats the hell out of it.

Nice pictures.
Lots of power in lightning to notch a tree out like that.
Need to make a bench or something from it, MN did a good straight cut ;)

It sucks to see a good, old growth tree go down like that, but that's the way it goes. It's bittersweet, because you'll benefit down the road from that occurance. Lots of great BTU's in that big bugger.

Lightning, or the power in it can sometimes be a bit scary when you see the damage it can do.

Here's pics of the other lightning struck tree I've found. In one you can see our bedroom window.

That would be cool. How should I do it? I've never done anything like this so I'm all ears.

Cut out a section of the log, drill holes for legs, plane off the splinters & a exterior clear finish ? ?
One way anyway :)
