I left for Virginia with my son to visit my mom and sis for the New Year. I get back today and walk in the house and it is 61 degrees. All I said was WTF. The stove was on, but had a real small lazy flame. I looked at the stove and could tell it didn't look right. The hopper lid was uneven. So I went lift it and it wasn't latched. There was a pellet stuck on top of the gasket. I just looked at her and shook my head. Cleaned off, scraped the pot, and now she is running like she did when I left. Can't believe she didn't notice that. The outside temp this morning was 4. Good thing we got home when we did. There would have been ice on the p61.

Tread lightly on the women comments. I maintain and know everything about my stove while my (60 y.o.) brother only knows how to dump pellets in. Glad your stove is back to normal.

How about a "Hi, I'm home" warm hug, and then, when the time feels right, a gentle lesson in stove operation? Dang, you sound as though yer about to slap her or divorce her because of a pellet she overlooked/misunderstood. Take some deep breaths and try to remember why you married this woman, and how that all felt back then. She wasn't doing anything to intentionally tick you off. Take a chill pill, then tell her you love her. Rick

What kind of "nice" names do you think she was calling you while she's in the house freezing?

I left the missus in charge when I went off to deer camp. She did fine. I told her to come here first and ask before she sent the sherrif out to camp (no phones, no cell phones, and I like it that way) to get me. Just remember to tell her to ask but don't let them in if you want any beer left when you get home.

My wife topped off the hopper for me last night. She told me she opened the lid and saw it was getting low, hauled a bag in from the garage and filled it up. Can't beat that kind of service.

Just got home from Philadelphia for a metting tonight. Walked in and was blown back by the stove. When you have the stove running on room temp 83 and then turn it to stove temp without moving the knob it will bring the house up in a hurry to the tune of 92 downstairs and 84 upstairs. I left the house for 9 hours and gave simple directions to turn it on stove temp 3 but i guess the 3 part got lost in translation.

My wife does a good job of creating chaos with the SCF-50, in fact besides always spilling pellets and not emptying the burn pot, she some how got a small hand full of pellets in heat exchanger baffle, they ignited, testing the smoke alarms;)

    Hmmmm...this could get good!

I'm away for 13 hours a day so my wife has learned how to keep the stove happy. She even knows how to empty and scrape the burn pot. She leaves the weekend cleaning for me, but has a handle on everything else.....
There, that's enough sucking up for me...she reads this forum!

I take care of the pellet stove 95% of the time. I also cook, clean and usually do most of the yard work. I can use the snow blower too, if necessary. Only thing is, when something break's my husband is sure that I used it last. I nicely let him know that I can fix that by not ever touching the stove, vacuum cleaner, pellet stove, snow blower or lawn mower ever again. :)
