Feeling the Heat
Feb 9, 2011
430
Central Illinois
It's a balmy 43deg here this morning and very windy with showers. We even had some thunder boomers last night.

Rain and wind continues all day with temps starting to fall after noon. Snow to start around 3pm or so. Overnight low forecasted at 17deg with a windchill of -6deg.

The 17 degrees isn't so bad, but the wind tears us up!!! It doesn't ever seem like you can do enough insulating, windows, etc., to battle the wind and win. I love the country life, but the wind sucks.

Old man Winter finally arriving to the Midwest.

I'll be firing up the Beast this afternoon with a corn/pellet mix and setting the Quad down on tstat for back up.

Yeah you folks have been getting hammered with the cold, some 30 to 45 degrees below average for both the high and low temperatures.

It has been warmer in Barrow.

You'll never hear me complain about the little bit of cold we get in Michigan.

How can you have fog when it is that damn cold.

Wouldn't the air just freeze?

mightymoe your living the dream. Man I only wish I could be in alaska.

Well it does, all the moisture freezes to everything, but then you have all the car exhaust and house stacks, pumping out fresh moisture. The air is so cold and dense, it kind of just floats around at ground level.

Nice to have the options to use a Bio mass furnace or a stove.

If one was to not keep up, the other is set back just a little to keep up :)

That Quad seems to be doing a good job? No complaints so far... definitely looks prettier. ;) Maybe heats better too ;em

So what do the people of Fairbanks think about all this talk of glodal warming?

The options are the bomb. I was very tempted to fire up the furnace with the wind we have. 25mph steady and gusts to 40 right now and temp still falling. Still supposed to see around 18deg temp.

The Quad is doing great. I'm going to put her to work tonight to see if she can handle it. I heat my house far better than with the old stove. The upstairs and the farthest ends away from the stove are way warmer. It just moves so much more heat. :)

We live in Fairbanks...

The only fact that matters is, we only have one world, and we have A LOT of problems to figure on a global scale. Were still too busy blowing each other up to worry about global warming IMO.
