I would like to burn wood chips for heating my house and have been able to find only one company (newhorizons) that sells a chip furnace. But there machines are a little too big. Does anyone know of a small (200,000 btu) wood chip burning furnace that is on the market - thanks - Greatbear

Welcome to the Boiler Room, greatbear.

Are you looking for a furnace or a boiler?

You could check with Zenon at New Horizon about rigging up either an EKO 60 or BioMax 60 to burn chips. Both are 205 Kbtu boilers and both can burn chips, but I don't think they come with an automatic feed system like the Goliath. You might also want to check with Tarm. Tarm Solo 60 is also a 200 Kbtu gasifier and I believe it can be made to burn chips as well.

What makes the Goliath SILO 120 m3 worth 40K$$$$$

Thanks Slowzuki - I would like to know more about the TARM being able to burn chips - I asked TARM USA and they said no.. could you pleae provide me with contact information for person making the switch - thank you

I have been burning chips in my eko80 this year by shoveling them in with cordwood. I think I could make it burn with just chips by making a grate to just set over the nozzel but the delivery is the hardest part. You have to meter the chips in and protect against back burn. Then you have to store them and keep them from freezing or haveing spontanious combustion. These are all doable but the wheel has already been invented over seas and they modulate them which makes them even better. Now if some dealer would only start importing them I'd love to take a good look and might even be willing to try one. HINT HINT

Email me and I can send you a couple of files on a tarm that was converted. They are too big to be posted here. I had sent them to Eric but don't know if he posted them any place.

I'm not sure of the details, the fellow said he had to order the model with the large auger and install a kit. It will also burn grains and corn. Apparently in translation, mais in some euro languages is a generic term for "grains" but can also mean corn. He's been trying to get some of this sorted out.
