Maytag will send me parts for my out of warranty frontload Neptue washer. It is a bad bearing. They want me to tell them what parts I need. I think I need a whole tub plus other stuff. Can someone point me to a good forum that can assist me with this?

Thanks
BIH

For a forum discussion you might want to try: http://www.homerepairforum.com/forum/. They are a pretty helpful group. You may also consider going to www.pcappliancerepair.com and looking for typical problems/solutions. If the problem is not readily found you can send them an email and they will have a pro respond. They have helped me with 2 side-by-side refrig/freezers I was having difficulty with. Parts prices are very reasonable with them also.

I have a bunch of places I have gotten advice from, some I've also ordered parts from as well...

I usually start with http://www.appliance411.com/ for advice and diagnostics, they seem to be associated with http://www.repairclinic.com/Home.aspx.

Another good info source with a rather bizarre attitude, but can be amusing - http://applianceguru.com/ or http://fixitnow.com/, home of the "Samurai Appliance Repair Guy". This is another advice site, that sends you to the repair clinic place above for parts, but has much more of a strange attitude towards helping with problems. They do charge a small fee to ask questions, mostly to ensure that you will actually finish the thread through to reach a resolution, not just post a question and not come back to see the answer... However, you can look at the existing questions and answers for free, and I've found that usually got me all the info I needed on my older appliance problems.

As an alternative place to order, try http://www.cheapapplianceparts.com/index.htm Doesn't seem to have as good a set of diagnostics, but a bit better for machine specific diagrams.

For what it's worth, by the time you figured in shipping both the above places above were within a dollar or two of each other on the parts I've gotten. They were a little less expensive than the local appliance parts place (Gene's in Lowell, MA) but not so much as to be worth waiting very long for the part, so I find that I tend to go online to figure out what I need, and then see if the local place has it in stock. If not, go back and order online.

I can't believe they are sending you parts. Once Whirlpool bought Maytag they jacked parts prices through the roof. I'm willing to bet the outer tub is part # 22004465 it retails for $446.51

I'll second repair clinic, love that place! Has saved me a lot of bucks and great service. Also, note that the appliance guru listed above likes beer, you're services is directly related to how much beer you buy him.
