I am looking for a modern woodburning stove for our combined kitchen, living room area. Our house is 2000 sq ft, with probably 800-1000 sq ft in this large combined room. We are buying the stove mainly for ambiance, although we do keep our house pretty cool (60-65F) in winter and will use this for supplementary heat in the main room when it is used. We live in Wisconsin where the temps do get chilly Dec-Apr. We only plan on using the stove when we are using the room and would not rely on it to heat the house normally - so perhaps fire it up when i get home from work and let it burn out when we go to bed.

Units we are looking at are the Jotul F370, Wittus Twinfire and Wittus cubic 109

There are hardly any reviews on any of these products so I thought I would post here to see if there is any feedback on those stoves or any other ideas.

Thanks in advance

Welcome to the forum!

I don't know any of those models personally but one caveat with the F370: Those curved panoramic glasses are usually expensive to replace when they break. Maybe inquire with the dealer about it. Some other modern looking units:

Pacific Energy Neo 2.5, Osburn Matrix, Obadiah has several modern brands like Amesti and Fajardo (http://woodstoves.net/woodstoves.htm), Hearthstone Lima and Bari, Woodstock Ideal Steel may also be considered "modern" by some.

How is your wood supply? Did you already get a few cords of dry wood (less than 20% internal moisture)?

I got to see the Wittus Twinfire in action at the Woodstove Decathlon. Besides being mesmerizing with the best fireshow on the planet it is also the most radiant stove I have felt. It puts out a very strong heat from the front of the stove. You won't find many reviews here on this stove. The Wittus and several others in this category are out of most folk's price range. They are attractive but are mostly room heaters with small capacity. But for a visual statement they are quite nice.

While looking consider Hwam, Morso and Rais too. They make excellent quality stoves. Also look at the Hearthstone Bari.
