I had a Hampton HI300 installed one month ago. It's really a nice stove and is keeping the house nice and warm. I am still trying to figure out the quirks of running it though and have a few questions for experienced users out there. In the evening, I pack the stove, let it heat up and slowly close the damper rod down to the last ~1/2" to 1". The next morning I always have coals. I seem to have that part "down". What do most of you do during the day? In my case, first thing in the morning I simply repeat the evening procedure and my wife takes over after that. She keeps feeding throughout the day,...a few pieces here and there. Would we be better off packing it tight every time we add wood? I just feel that if we don't, the stove never gets hot enough to get into the secondary burn temps. Any opinions? Advice?
