Boy am I glad I put that stove in last year. It's only going to get worse for sure.

I pay about $400 a year for propane . that's heating water ,cooking ,and heating a garage . seems like I manage to "invest" in a saw every year ,buy a load of logs ,and generally find something saw related to spend money on .
Yet some how,I feel that I'm still ahead on the buying gas thing . If any of You think I'm wrong , keep it to Yourselves . My wife may monitor my posts !

Just had oil delivered last week. My tank was topped off last April. The guy delivered a whopping 58 gallons today. Hee hee hee. Love wood stoves!

Mine was topped off 2 weeks ago......52 gallons used since June....brings the yearly total to 205 gallons used....and that is on the high side...usually about 150 gallons a year

I have been averaging about 50 gallons of propane used each winter lately to heat the house. Probably am saving $1500 average a year, maybe more. Enjoy doing firewood also.

Without the stove my electric bill (heat pump with electric back-up) was running no less than $500/month in the winter. After a full year of the stove, burning free wood, it hasn't been over $180/month.

Heard this morning on the radio that the average heating oil price in Maine is $3.64 a gallon . . . granted I didn't use a lot of oil . . . but I know I did not spend anywhere near $2,111.20 getting in my wood for this winter so that should translate into "extra" money for me this year.

I have a feeling those that heat with fuel oil are not going to be prepared for a 'normal' winter this year. Not only much more usage but the increased cost per gallon.

My house is entirely electric and I haven't touched the baseboard electric heaters yet this year. $80 electric bills and 0 for fuel is great.

I just locked in with a cap at $3.76....the cap option also carries a $80 fee. My buddy locked in at a set price of $3.56....it'll be interesting to see where we stand in the Spring as far as usage and savings....although I know his usage will be higher (2 teen Daughters vs. just the Wife and I)
