If what Summit says is correct, then there is no use putting in a new ignitor in my Lopi because the new firewall they gave me for a replacement stands a good 1/4" from the firebox, therefore, the ash goes in back & onto the surrounding area of the ignitor. I probably won't change mine as i'm used to manually lighting. If anything, i did learn more about my stove since manual than my first 2 burning seasons cause i fooled with it more. Muss
 
I have 2008 Lopi Leyden with cast iron firewall, it has been igniting fine since I've had it. No issues whatsoever.
