Those messy sharp filings that can stick in the vacuum filter! Is there a better way?
Yes there is!
Get a 5/8” diameter magnet and a 12” length of threaded rod. Grind the end of the rod flat and stick on the magnet with silicone and gorilla tape.
Put a piece of paper towel over the end and gather up the filings. Then pull out the rod and watch the filings drop into the container or trash! See pics

That's fine for magnetic particles - stainless, copper, brass & several other more exotic items as well as non metallic items.
