Based on recommendations here, I bought and received this aforementioned electric chainsaw the other day, and put it together. I am not planning on needing to use it this winter and rather not add the chain oil to the reservoir, is it OK to actually just run the saw without oil, is there an actual "pump" that feeds the chain or is is simply a gravity thing? Can't be that good to run pumps dry but I do want to at least make sure the thing works and the chain spins, etc...

Sure - plug it in and gun it once or twice to make sure it spins. No harm.
