Hey I wonder if anyone has messed around with trying to do full loads of small diameter stuff. I happen to have an endless supply of hardwood flooring cutoffs, and I can make them work in my atmos on max secondary with careful stacking, but no more than a little less than half full or it's puff the magic dragon. I'm wondering if I can further restrict the primary-- maybe even dramatically enough to basically use it as a retort and play around with making biochar for agricultural use.

Has anyone tried anything along these lines?

I've burned a lot of that stuff, 2x4 pine cut offs too. It puffs till it gets good and hot. I think maximum fan speed is best. I Run it like crazy this way when I want heat fast or in May and Sept. when I want hot water and a bit of heat for the house.
