Took the wife and kids to Mohonk for Christmas eve breakfast and a hike. It's about 1 hour from home and makes a nice day trip without paying to spend the night there. At the skating pavilion they have a massive stone fireplace. The guy actually walks inside it to load the wood. It was in the 20's so it felt nice.

Enjoy the pics. This place is highly recommended if you live close enough to visit.

More shots from the hike.

Merry Christmas. There's snow on the distant peaks. Usually the lake would be frozen and snow by now. Warm one this year.

Never been there, but heard great things about the place, My friend had property not far from there, when I was deer hunting on his Mountain I could see it.

I will make a point to go there and take the family

They have a hike called the Labrynth. It's a nice rock scrabble with the ending called the lemon squeeze, where you ascend the mountain thru a tight crack on a series of ladders. It's a fun one. My kids and I love it. Highly recommended. You can google or youtube the lemon squeeze to see it.

Thanks for sharing the view bassW. I enjoy being able to see wonderful places I'll never get to visit.

My wife and I saw the Mohonk Mt. House on the Travel channel when we lived in VA. When my job moved to NJ, we figured we were close enough to check it out. NY has so many beautiful places that remind me of some of the great lodges out west in the Tetons and Yellowstone. Another beautiful place is the Sagamore at Lake George. Beautiful to see from boat, way above my finances to stay there! Many great places to visit in NY. We love lake Placid, Oneida, Champlain, Lake George and Winnespesauqe. The summers are too short though.
