I'm considering making my own outside air kit rather than buying the "kit", which is just overpriced. I noticed that the Mt Vernon Insert requires a collar in order to attach a pipe to the air intake port on the stove. For those who have homemade setups, where did you get the collar? Or how did you make do?

Here is a picture of it from the kit.

thanks

Made my collar, just soldered a old oil can, you know squirt type to a plate. Only thing I had to buy was the aluminum hose.

Yep... I bought mine before knowing about this place... :( So I paid the $109!!!

Can be easily made. Easily..

My dealer installed my quad, but I'm pretty sure they fabbed up the collar piece.

I used a exhaust flange I had. It came off a old pipe that was worthless to me. You may try a local autoparts store for a header reducer they may be able to help you. This is what Im talking about:

http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_2?url=search-alias=automotive&field-keywords=header reducer&rh=n:15684181,k:header reducer

cheapest is like $15

I used this OAK kit along with the exhaust flange I had http://www.ventingpipe.com/duravent-3pvp-aik-fresh-air-intake-kit/p1760884
Thank you, that's great advice. I might go with the header reducer as I already have everything else I need.
